Spotted at PedalFest 2013

I happened upon PedalFest 2013 held at Jack London Square in Oakland, California. This event is a celebration of all things bicycle and is attended by more than 20,000 people annually.

It’s hosted by Jack London Square and the East Bay Bicycle Coalition, and if you ever have an opportunity to attend, do so! You will be treated to (from the website)…

“…an incredible day of fun and excitement filled with pedal powered food and entertainment, dare-devil stunts, a colorful bicycle parade for kids, bike safety training and the most amazing collection of bicycles to be seen – from vintage and hand-built bikes to high-end customs, sturdy commuters and creative art bikes.”

Here are a few pics from 2013’s PedalFest.

Spotted at Scheels

You may be asking what’s noteworthy about bikes at Scheels. Well, typically not much. But while I was there yesterday this bike caught my eye.

Why did it catch my eye? Well, because the paint color scheme is practically identical to one that I used last month on the restoration I did on a Firmstrong beach cruiser last month. [See: The Firmstrong Gets a Makeover.]

Check out the two bikes side-by-side (below). Mine’s the bottom one. The colors look even more identical in person.

What a coincidence!

Since I was shooting pics, I also took a couple shots of this sweet Nirve Chopper on display.

This bike is the Nirve® Bicycles Cannibal 3-Speed Chopper, and features: a chopper frame; Nirve StreetKing® double crown chopper fork; front disc brake; and a Shimano 3-speed internal rear hub.
